Re-Roofing
Full strip-down, repair and re-fix for lasting quality weatherproofing
We specialise in re-roofing and provide long lasting quality materials and work.
When a slate roof shows signs of age, damp, or leaking
...a quick patch-up won’t fix it.
At Pennine Services, we carry out complete slate roof strip and renewal — stripping right back to the rafters and building it back properly from the inside out.
Pennine Services — Process Overview
This step-by-step overview explains how Pennine Services restores your roof, highlighting the key stages, benefits, and reasons for roof restoration in a clear and easy-to-understand guide.
Full Strip‑down and Inspection
We carefully remove every existing slate from the roof, exposing the full timber structure. We assess the condition of the rafters and structure, checking for any decay or damage that needs attention before we rebuild.
New High-Performance Roofing Felt
Many older roofs have no felt beneath the slates — this is the most common cause of hidden damp and leaks. We install premium, high-performance breathable roofing felt across the entire roof area — creating a fully weatherproof, breathable membrane that stops water getting in while letting moisture escape.
All-New Treated Timber Battens
We fit new, pressure-treated timber battens, gauged and spaced perfectly to match the size and thickness of your slates. This ensures every slate sits evenly, locks securely, and lasts for decades.
Careful Re-Fixing of Original Slates
Wherever possible, we carefully remove, sort, and re-use the original slates — preserving the building’s character and appearance. Each slate is re-fixed with new, corrosion-resistant fixings for maximum security and longevity.
